Thank you for logging on to the Wyre Forest Labour web site and visiting the Bewdley page.
I am very pleased once again to be selected by the Bewdley Branch to be a candidate for the East Ward of Bewdley for the Town Council elections.
I have been a Town Councillor for this ward which includes the town centre, Bark Hill and Woodthorpes for 16 years. I had the honour of being Mayor in 1999/2000 and at present I am the Deputy Mayor.
I am sure that any of you who know me will agree that I care passionately about Bewdley. I served 35 years as a retained firefighter in Bewdley and for several years had the privilege of being the Officer in Charge. On my retirement from the Fire Brigade I became a Volunteer Community First Responder with the ambulance service.
As a Town Councillor I am the representative for all Police matters and PACT, a representative for the Environment Group which is part of Bewdley Development Trust, the Chairman of the War Memorial Group, the co coordinator of the Parish Games and a member of the planning committee. I am also the only town Councillor who attends the Tenants Consultative Committee meetings. I hold a Councilors’ surgery every month in the town Library. As the Deputy Mayor I have represented the town several times at functions when the Mayor has not been able to attend.
I work for Age Concern as the Supervisor for their Gardening Section.
My other interests include being the Chairman of the Bewdley Branch of the Royal British Legion and Vice Chairman of its Welfare Section, Vice Chairman of the Bewdley Carnival Committee, Executive Member of the Civic Society, a member of Bewdley in Bloom committee, a friend of the Museum and a member of Neibourhood Watch. I believe that being a member of these organisations helps to promote and support our town.
I would welcome your support during the Town Council elections and hope that you will vote for me so as I can continue to work for you and our town and to continue with the many campaigns I am running which includes grit bins on Bark Hill, lowered kerbs for the disabled on Bark Hill, better facilities for the play area, illegal parking, anti social behavior, improvement to the town centre footpaths, a lift for the Town Hall and several other matters.
If re elected I will continue to hold monthly surgeries in the Library on the first Saturday of each month and surgeries at my home on the other Saturdays. I can be contacted by email or telephone 01299404113 or you can call in at my house at 22 Lyttleton Road, Bark Hill. Please contact me if I can be of any help to you. Later I will be telling you more about my current and future campaigns.
